Email without a connection

Most of my waking day is spent on sites where I have no internet connection but I do have some downtime.

Software: Firefox, Google Gears, syncing to gmail.
FBreader for reading free ebooks.

Hardware: Eee PC 900 netbook, powered by Tiny Core Linux.

This reminds me of reading FidoNet netmail/echos with BlueWave. "When I was a kid we didn't have the internet!"
